November Tea Favorites
I’m starting a new series. Monthly tea favorites. At the end of each month I’ll be sharing my favorite teas from the past 3 or 4 weeks. It’s a fun way to get to share what I’ve been drinking and what’s been piquing my interest.
So here we go! November!
I was sick for on and off for a lot of this last month. For me that meant drinking a whole lot of mint tea. Luckily I happen to have a wide variety on hand so I was able to mix it up a bit. Here are my November Tea Favorites...
No 39 Fez by Smith Teamakers
If you’re a green tea drinker, this is a refreshing twist on a traditional green tea. It is made with China Mao Feng green tea, Oregon Spearmint and Australian lemon myrtle leaves. I brought this tea to a Moroccan dinner party and it was the perfect accompaniment to our chocolate dessert.
I absolutely LOVE this tea. Highly recommend it.
Tummy Mint by Yerba Buena Tea Company
This was my go to “sick tea” for the month if I wasn’t being incredibly lazy and just drinking hot water.
This is an herbal tea with organic peppermint, organic marshmallow root, organic chamomile flowers, organic ginger root and organic fennel. Marshmallow root is a digestive aid and peppermint is a go to tummy soother. And the fennel isn’t too overwhelming so don’t worry.
I discovered Yerba Buena Tea Company at the SF International Tea Festival I went to in the middle of the month. They are a local tea company based in San Francisco making a wide variety of small batch blends. I was amazed at the tea festival with just how many different blends they offered and every one I tasted was wonderful.
They have 8 wellness specific blends and this Tummy Mint is one of them.
Lavender Ginger Mint by Yerba Buena Tea Company
To mix up the peppermint in my week of sore throats and sneezes, I also really enjoyed this Lavender Ginger Mint tea also from Yerba Buena Tea Company.
I mean, who could resist lavender, ginger and mint all in one cup of tea? It just screams calm and soothing.
This tea has organic spearmint, organic ginger root and organic lavender flowers.
Paris by Harney & Sons
Okay and one last tea that isn’t minty at all.
This is a black tea with vanilla and caramel flavors and a hint of lemony bergamot. It’s not too bold or intense. The flavor combinations are nice and subtle.
It would actually be a great tea to serve around the holidays. The vanilla flavor is warm and comforting. It definitely feels like the kind of tea you would want to drink while curled up next to the fire with your cats — at least I would be curled up with some cats, I don’t know about you guys.
This is a good black tea to keep on hand for guests. I would be surprised if I served this and someone hated it.
Currently reading
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (although I also read Prizoner of Azkaban in about a week before this)
Lovely little things
- New favorite podcast! Harry Potter and the Sacred Text. A podcast reading through the Harry Potter series chapter by chapter as if it were a sacred text. What are the lessons and messages you see when looking more deeply into the books. Highly recommend if you’re into that kind of thing.
- These Christmas tree blocks from House Industries are one of my favorite decorations at our house around the holidays. You can build Christmas trees out of them or spell out Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. They’re really fun and festive. Love them.
