One of my resolutions for 2018 is bringing more balance into my life. I have a tendency to go all in on one thing I’m really excited about and forget the rest. I love personal development and I’m a big planner so those get a lot of my attention. Translation: Hello Sunday meal prep, early morning gym time and lots of reading & podcasts.

But this means I don’t always pay as much attention as I could to other aspects of my life. So one of my goals for 2018 is to bring more balance to my life. Instead of focusing my attention heavily on health and relaxation, I want to broaden it this year to consistently balance:

  • Health

  • Relaxation

  • Fun & Spontaneity

  • Wedding

  • Blog (hey that’s this!)

Like I said, I have the health and relaxation things in a good rhythm. Wedding and blog I’m balancing my focus between since they both require lots of attention.

It’s the “Fun & Spontaneity“ piece that I could be better at. To be honest, this kind of surprises me. I’m a super happy, easily excitable person. I spent like 10 minutes in the Color Factory doing this and this if that gives you a better idea. You would think I would have this on lock.

So this year I want to...

  • Spend more time having fun with friends

  • Go on more spontaneous mini-adventures

  • Try more new things

  • Spend more days leaving the house and not wearing sweatpants (...maybe I can keep the sweatpants?)

I’m starting the “fun” off simple — with this super fun Pink Almond Tea Latte. Yes, it’s a small step. But it’s a small pink step… which is the most fun kind of step. Plus, it's perfect for Valentine's Day ;)

This is called an almond latte NOT because it’s made with almond milk but because it’s made with almond tea! Just blew your mind right there. Don’t worry, you can use almond milk also if that’s your jam.

Almond tea usually has some mix of almonds, apple, cinnamon, hibiscus and red beetroot. Ta da! It’s the red beetroot which gives this tea it’s vibrant pink color.

I personally LOVE this tea. It’s super duper freaking cozy and sweet in a good way. And I usually don’t like overly sweet things. For this tea latte, I combine the almond tea with milk, water, maple syrup, vanilla and a dash of fun and it’s seriously delicious. I strongly recommend it for Valentine’s day… or just a lazy Sunday morning.

I first tried this style of tea from Teahaus Ann Arbor. They have their Roasted Almond which I actually reviewed before if you’re curious to learn more. I love it. Theirs has hibiscus in it also which brings a bit of a different vibe.

Then, I saw noticed that David’s Tea carries a version also. Theirs is called Forever Nuts. It has cinnamon added and artificial flavouring instead of natural flavoring which is the only bummer. It still tastes really similar though.

And then I noticed that Tiesta Tea has a version of this tea also called Nutty Almond Cream. I saw it in my local Safeway and it looked and smelled the same to me although I haven’t actually tried it. This one is also available on AMAZON PRIME! Hallelujah! Thank the Valentine's Day gods.

If you’re curious to compare prices:

Roasted Almond by Teahaus  //  $5.25 for 1.75oz (50g)

Forever Nuts by David’s Tea  //  $8 for 1.75oz (50g)

Nutty Almond Cream Tea by Tiesta Tea  //  $5 for 2oz

Lovely little things

  • Apparently this is old news all over the midwest but I had this corn casserole at a friend’s house a few weeks ago and it is so freaking addictive. I swear it’s just mass quantities of the gooey Chevy’s corn stuff.

  • I want this Herb Garden Tote Bag from Rifle Paper Co real bad.

  • Speaking of Rifle Paper Co — did you see they are making stamps now? We already ordered them for the wedding.
